Urban Design Guidelines Update

Fairfax County is undergoing a process to update urban design guidelines (the Guidelines) for some of the County’s Commercial Revitalization Districts. The Guidelines will provide more detailed urban design and streetscape information to complement each area’s existing Comprehensive Plan. The first set of Guidelines to be updated are for Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners.

Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners

The draft Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners Urban Design Guidelines contain written and visual ideas about how sidewalks and landscape areas should be detailed, how buildings should be sited, and how innovative sustainable design practices can be used to foster a unique sense of place in these areas. This document is intended to be used by citizens, developers, land owners, designers, Fairfax County staff, the Fairfax County Planning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors when either proposing, designing or reviewing development proposals in Baileys Crossroads and Seven Corners.

Online Presentation
A video information session that provides an educational overview of the urban design guidelines is available. The video is approximately 4 minutes long. Visitors are encouraged to view the video before reading the document as it provides a great introduction to the draft Guidelines and process.
